Omhoog kijken

24 augustus verschijnt Tomorrow Morning. En als ik voorgaande zin vandaag op 23 juli nog een keer lees dan raak ik er zelf ook wel een beetje van in de war. Ter verduidelijking, Tomorrow Morning is de titel van de nieuwe plaat van Eels die 24 augustus te koop zal zijn. Na Hombre Lobo en End Times is dit alweer het derde album dat E er in iets meer dan een jaar uitperst en dat soort productiviteit mag best gevierd worden. Mocht het nog niet duidelijk zijn, het nieuwe album wordt me een partijtje vrolijk: “The ninth EELS studio album, TOMORROW MORNING, is the brightest and most overtly uplifting work of the EELS’ fourteen year career”, aldus de Eels website. ”It’s a little bit of hope for the hopeless,” is wat E er zelf over te zeggen heeft.

E from Eels was questioned by police in London‘s Hyde Park after they mistook him for a suspected terrorist. The singer, real name Mark Oliver Everett was taking a break from a day of interviews when police approached him thinking he fitted the description of a suspicious person they were looking for. After being let go once they realised he was innocent, the frontman said: “Not every guy with short hair and a long beard is a terrorist. Some of us just want to rock.”
